Ex- Physician Charged with Assault Charges Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a ex- doctor stands accused of carrying out assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
One senior prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

Prosecutors outline the forty-five sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
