Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it's natural for questions to be asked about his position after a further convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in 12 matches, marking the team's poorest run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received plenty of support from the top,” the coach commented.

“It's important to change things and earn three points naturally but if you are coaching a team and underperforming then it's typical that people question you.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his discussions with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular exchanges I sense the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Reaction

Slot highlighted familiar weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League loss, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a period of this nature with performances so bad.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And as long as it is gone, we'll continue to battle.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, show everyone again the values of this club and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
